Kuggen at Lindholmen

Chalmers learning common Kuggen is part of Chalmers' library. Students and staff at the IT faculty can take advantage of both the university library's services and Kuggen's study environments, group study rooms and library services.

Opening hours

Kuggen is open to all users on weekdays between 10.00 and 16.00. On Chalmers library's website there is more information about current opening hours and any exceptions.

Use your GU card to enter during extended opening hours

On weekdays between 07.00 and 22.00, Kuggen is open without staff. Students and employees of the IT Faculty at the University of Gothenburg can visit Kuggen during the extended opening hours. Enter through the entrance facing House Patricia.

Book a group study room

Students can book group study rooms in Kuggen and in Chalmers main library at Johanneberg. Use your GU account (gus-id and password) to log in. Information about the rooms and links to the booking system can be found at Chalmers library's website.

Textbooks for the IT Faculty

Textbooks for the IT Faculty can be borrowed at the Education Library on Västra Hamngatan. Since autumn 2022, there are also a number of reference copies of the IT Faculty's textbooks in Kuggen. The reference copies cannot be borrowed, but are available to be read on site, during Kuggen's staffed opening hours.

Please note that you cannot return books from Gothenburg University Library in Kuggen. This is because Chalmers Library and Gothenburg University Library have different systems for borrowing and returning books.

Wifi and access to articles and databases

If you bring your own computer with you, you can use the Eduroam wireless network to access internet. As a student or employee at the University of Gothenburg you access databases, e-books and e-journals with your GU account. The university library has several article databases within the subject area of the IT faculty.

Help with information searching

Students and employees of the IT faculty can get help with information searching and reference management at the Education Library's digital information desk in Zoom. You do not need to make an appointment, just drop in during the information desks' opening hours.

Service for students with reading impairments

The University Library provides extended support to students with a reading disability. You can get help with adapted textbooks, longer loan periods for course books and access to the reading studios at our libraries. Kuggen's reading studio cannot be used by the IT faculty's students.
