Library services at Campus Johanneberg

Students and staff at the Faculty of Science who are active on Campus Johanneberg can take advantage of both the university library's service and the Chalmers Main Library's study environments, group study rooms and library services.

Opening hours

Chalmers Main Library

Chalmers Main Library is open to all users Monday–Saturday. On Chalmers library's website there is more information about current opening hours and any exceptions.

Extended opening hours

During the extended opening hours, the library is unstaffed and GU students studying at Chalmers can use the premises. During the extended opening hours, you can enter the premises with your GU card.

Mathematics library

The Mathematics library is a resarch library and the main subjects covered are mathematics, statistical mathematics and numerical analysis. The Mathematics Library supports researchers, teachers and students at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, but is also open to the public.

Book a group study room

Students can book group study rooms in Kuggen and in Chalmers main library at Johanneberg. Use your GU account (gus-id and password) to log in. Information about the rooms and links to the booking system can be found at Chalmers library's website.

Textbooks for the Faculty of Science

Textbooks for the Faculty of Science can be borrowed at the Biomedical Library on Medicinaregatan 4.

Please note that you cannot return books from Gothenburg University Library at Chalmers Main Library. This is because Chalmers Library and Gothenburg University Library have different systems for borrowing and returning books.

Many of the textbooks are available as e-textbooks. You will find textbooks in Supersearch. Use the filter Textbook when you search Supersearch to easily limit your results to only textbooks.

About borrowing and using e-books

Wifi and access to articles and databases

If you bring your own computer with you, you can use the Eduroam wireless network to access internet. As a student or employee at the University of Gothenburg you access databases, e-books and e-journals with your GU account. The university library has several article databases within the subject area of Faculty of Science.

Students and employees of the faculty of Science can get help with information searching and reference management at the Biomedical Library's digital information desk in Zoom. You do not need to make an appointment, just drop in during the information desks' opening hours.

Service for students with reading impairments

The University library provides extended support for students and staff with reading impairments. You can get help with access to adapted textbooks, longer loan periods and access to reading studios. Chalmers Library's reading studios cannot be used by GU students.
